About the Microsoft .NET Runtime

What is it?
Microsoft's next-generation development platform and runtime environment for Windows operating systems. The .NET website has the full details: http://www.microsoft.com/net/default.asp

Where can I get the .NET Runtime?
Either a) run Windows Update from your Start Menu. If dotNet is not yet installed on your system it will be listed in the second group of updates in the menu on the left hand side (titled Windows 2000, Windows XP etc), or b) Download the latest version directly from the Microsoft Website at: http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/technologyinfo/howtoget/default.aspx

How do I know if I've already got it?
